Mobility in Židikai 8/5/2023 – 12/5/2023

LITHUANIA

Day 1

Students introduced our country, town and ŽidikaiMarijaPečkauskaitėschool. The guests were entertained by the performances of the school students with Lithuanian songs and music. The partners were welcomed at gymnasium by the school headmistress, Rima Širvinskienė and the head of Židikai eldership,SkirmutėFlemingienė. The meeting continued with the presentation of relationship between Sport, games and Violence. Each partner presented their traditional games, sport and dances.

The afternoon continued with took part in various ice-breaking activities. After a lunch, the foreign students were welcomed by the families of our school. Teachers visited Chapel-grave of MarijaPečkauskaitė and Renavas manor.

Day 2

 Europe Day Celebrations was celebrated with the Hymn of Joy. Participant students were divided into multinational groups. Students played traditional games, had educational activities. Teachers visited the school and the kindergarten.

After a lunch, participants took part in the bread-making process, in the rituals of honoring the bread, and mixing them with ancient dishes. While the bread was baking, the participants were introduced to the long bread path – from sowing rye to baked bread on the table. Ancient songs, dances, games were taught.

Day 3

The third day was dedicated to visiting the wonders of the Curonian Spit. Participants had a guided tour of the Parnidis sand dune, Nida, The Hill of Witches. Also, students and teachers visited Klaipėda city centre.

Day 4

Fairy play presentations were held by students of senior class. After presentation, students played various team games. They learnt the principles of fair play, anger management, and appropriate, friendly behaviour.

The teachers met with the mayor of Mažeikiai and the head of the Education, Culture and Sports Department of Mažeikiai.The afternoon continued with workshop in Mažeikiai museum and tour in Palanga.

In the evening everyone was invited to the cultural evening at school. The invited folklore group prepared a show of traditional Lithuanian dances, games and songs. The Headmistress Rima Širvinskienė thanked all partners and awarded the certificates of participation to students and teachers.

Day 5

The students divided intogroups,researched the elements of violence and fair play in sports and made presentations. After presentations students played team games. After a lunch at school, the students spent time with the families.

All the partners gathered in the library where the coordinator Pertsinidou Kyriaki and Yasemin Öğür presented the handbooks and after all theydiscussed the last aspects of the future work. The afternoon teachers visited Plateliai and Telšiai.

How did the participation in this activity benefit the involved participants?

By joining group activities and playing sport games, participants learnt to cope with defeat and felt the happiness of victory.All participants learnt the principles of fair play, they learntways to controltheir anger, improved their social skills.

Students improved theirEnglish language skills by working in multinational groups, they had the opportunity toexpress their ideas.All participating teachers developed their understanding of other educational systems. Participants learnt about Lithuanian culture, traditions by having the opportunity to see the historical places and by spending time in Lithuanian families.
